12/30 i didn't do much on wednesday.  kathy and i watched harry potter 6.  it was alright.  they didn't put that much emphasis on the half blood Prince.

12/31 i tried out my hydration pack.  it works really well.  the water still tastes like plastic though.  i'm hoping that will go away as i use it more.  i ran to the waterfall.  with the rain yesterday, the waterfall was pretty neat.  i think i went 13.4 miles, but i'm not quite sure as trails are difficult to map.  today, i also tried to donate some old clothes, cellphones, and routers.  but i got to the salvation army too late.  bummer, no 2009 tax deduction.

12/27 attended a work gathering generously hosted by steven.  played rockband and apples to apples.  i practiced speaking in mandarin to my coworker's 4 year old daughter.  her mandarin is perfect for my level of speaking.  =P  also talked to my other coworker's 4 year old son.  i taught him how to spell dog, cat, stop, and go.  i wonder if he will remember it.  it's funny how giving kids a high five can keep them entertained for a long time.

12/28 stef "helped" me sign up for an online dating website.  oh golly, i wonder if i will regret doing this.  well, i have 3 months to try it out to see what the fuss is about.  dude, so some of the matches i got were with people i've met before in various places.  is that typical?

person A: met him at a bbq a few years ago.  audris met him too.  he was freaky.  and a jenga cheater!!  i wonder if i have this story written in a past blog entry.  so the rule in jenga is that you cannot pull sticks from the top two rows.  we got the tower pretty high.  it was person A's turn to pull the stick, and the tower was pretty much ready to fall.  so to avoid being the loser, person A pulled the stick from the 2nd row.  and then the tower fell when the next guy had to pull the stick.  person A = cheater.  lose like a man, man!

person B: i'm not sure where i met him before, but his photo looks really familiar.  i think he's a friend of a friend.

at this point, i decided to change my proximity from LA county to ventura county.

person C: from oxnard.  dude, i've met this guy before too!  he and marnelli were my tour guides at the ucla welcome day.

freaky...

in the evening, i drove stef to the airport.  afterwards, i played mahjong with helen, john, melinda, and joe.  joe was the newbie at the game, but he totally wiped us out.  great job joe!

12/25 played cranium.  we used the bonus pack that stef got from audris many years ago.  stef and nathan won.  afterwards, we went to agoura hills to check out our old residences and old schools.  LCMS is very different.  They moved Yerba Buena elementary school out.  And now they are using the YB classrooms for the middle school students.  in the meantime, they've torn up the old LCMS buildings and are currently reconstructing.  AHS looks the same except there is this huge new building across from where mr. holden and mr. berke's classrooms were.  there are also many portable buildings dispersed around campus now.

12/26 went to magic mountain.  it just so happens that i called nadine on thursday to say hi and give my holiday greetings, and she said that she was planning to go to mm this saturday too.  so we met up with her, her bf, and ray.  got to a rather slow start.  the lines were already pretty long for X2, but i wanted to go there first to get the really scary ride out of the way.  so what is the difference between X and X2?  the track/movement of the ride itself is the same.  they put speakers near your head, so you hear music during the ride now.  there's also this fire ball in part of it.  we also went on tatsu, riddlers, terminator salvation (seemed kinda short, i didn't get a strong impression of it - bad or good), viper, gold rusher (still a fun run even though it was made in the 70's), ninja, collosus (i like this ride.  it's very long), and scream (i still remember the time when i rode this ride 5 times consecutively at sherman's company event).  unfortuneatly, goliath, batman, and superman were closed.  the park was not very crowded, which was nice.  the weather did get very cold during the evening.  42 degrees, the windchill from the high speed rides didn't help.  for dinner, we went to a pizza place in valencia.

12/27 had dim sum at the ocean star in mp.  after lunch, we saved just enough room for some cefiore.  then we went shopping at michaels and bevmo.  i've never been to bevmo before.  i thought the prices would be expensive, but they are pretty reasonable.  i picked up a bottle of lindemans framboise lambic raspberry beer.  that one is awesome.  we played apples 2 apples while eating trader joe's chocolate chip cookies and chocolate mochi ice cream.

the 12 days of winter vacation

12/22: had lobster spaghetti at il fornaio with my roomie.  even though we were already stuffed, we still sprung for the sampler dessert.  yum.

12/23: went to book off with stef.  i bought a cd by yellow generation.  one of their songs was used as the subtheme for this jdrama, hotman.  turned out this song was not on the cd i bought, but it still sounds good.  also bought two cd's from a japanese artist, cocco.  have not listened to them yet.  in addition, purchased the wallflower's bringing down the horse, liz phair's self titled album, and boa's listen to my heart.  it's nice to buy a bunch of stuff when the cd's are only $3 each.  afterwards we went to murakai and bought a bento box, starbucks to buy some drinks, and then back home to eat lunch.  we karaoke'd at my place while waiting for nathan's flight to come in.  i have a lot more songs than i thought i had.  for dinner, we met up with high school friends at din tai fung in arcadia.  the dumplings were alright.  the best dumplings i've had were at joe's shanghai in new york.

12/24: went to breeze's to get a boat load of coffee for everyone.  3 black coffee's, 2 mocha's, 1 chai tea latte, 1 cappuccino, 1 triple shot espresso.  breeze's mocha is really good.  yum.  suzie and joe came over and we played Moods in the backyard.  i got that game from dominique.  that was many years ago; i've had many funny experiences playing that game.  for lunch we had in n out.  for dinner, we went to buca.
